Seeing Germany with New Eyes

Tina’s Return to Her Roots

Our Sales Manager, based in Las Vegas, visited us a few weeks ago and shares her insight and experience about what it’s like to be exploring cities through the eyes of a tourist.

This May I had the great pleasure to be spending time with the APPINA TRAVEL Team in Germany. As you might have seen, I started working with APPINA TRAVEL just recently and was offered the opportunity to spend some time, getting to know the offices as well as my amazing team mates.

My first stop was Munich. Having worked in Munich for years way back when, it’s always like coming home. I stayed at the Holiday Inn City Center. Only a walk away from the city center in a great location. The room was modern, spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet was out of this world. Maybe I am a bit bias being German, but there is nothing better than starting the day with a vast selection of fresh Bread, Bretzeln, Rolls, Cold Cuts, Eggs and Bircher Muesli. I visited the office in Gauting and participated in my first team meeting. I also experienced a typical Bavarian Restaurant and visited several hotels. My favorite one was Hotel Platzl as it offered the typical Bavarian style mixed with modern technology in a great location, right across from the Hofbräuhaus.

My next stop was Dresden. I worked along side my colleagues for a full week and enjoyed every moment of it. During my stay I visited the old town, did a tour through the Semperoper, participated in a city tour by bus learning about all the city and its beautiful surroundings has to offer. I definitely will come here again. I fell in Love with the city and its southern flair. Beautiful Barock Buildings, the vibrant Neustadt, the Old town, full of history, the nature. With over 60 percent of its area covered with forests and green spaces, Dresden is one of Europe's greenest cities. There is so much more to explore here. I also saw several hotels and loved the Steigenberger Hotel de Saxe the most, because of its beautiful rooms and perfect location, just a minute walk away from the famous Frauenkirche.

On the weekend, I decided to rent a bike and ride to Meissen, about roughly 26 Kilometers one way. It was the most beautiful ride along side the Elbe River and Meissen itself is worth a visit. Unfortunately the trip came to an end way to fast. I had to say good bye to my colleagues, stopped in Augsburg for a few days to spend time with my Mom and 2 Brothers before I headed back to the Airport to fly back to Vegas. It was an amazing time. Even though Germany is my home country, I never been to Dresden or Meissen before, learned so much and now feel very much a part of my APPINA Team as well. Until next time!
