Tour Suggestion
Day 1: Arrival in Rome
Day 2: The Seven Churches Pilgramages of Rome
In the 16th century the tradition of 7 churches pilgrimages was revived. The approx. 25 km long route is usually walked. It begins in San Lorenzo fuori le Mure and ends in St. Peter's Basilica.
Since, for many pilgrims, St. Peter's Basilica is the destination of their journey, we recommend this order. Adolph Kolping, however, went this way the other way round.
Day 3: Pope Audience - Catacombs
On Wednesdays there is usually the Pope's General Audience where we offer you the unique opportunity to participate. In the afternoon you descend into a catacomb. There you will be offered a living image of Christianity in the first centuries.
Day 4: Early Christian Church and Sant'Egidio
The traces of early Christianity are particularly visible in Rome. The Colosseum, San Clemente, SS Cosma e Damiano in the Forum and the "dungeon" of St. Peter and St. Paul bear witness to this. In the evening you will take part in the prayer and meeting of the Community of Sant'Egidio in S. Maria in Trastevere. This community cares in a special way for the poor and is a living member of the Roman Church.
