PROGRAM SUGGESTION
Day 1: Arrival
How about a stop in Garmisch-Partenkirchen? You could visit the impressive Olympic ski jump. Or if that’s not high enough – we recommend a trip to the top of the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain.
Day 2: Linderhof castle and Ettal abbey
After breakfast the visit of Linderhof castle will take you into the fairy tale world of king Ludwig II. Around noon you will experience a demonstration on traditional cheese production in a cheese dairy. Enjoy the regional delicacies with a typical bavarian “Brotzeit” afterwards. In the afternoon you pay a visit to the Ettal abbey – you can explore the area with the impressive basilica on your own - or we can organize a tour for you, including the basilica, the distillery and/or brewery.
Day 3: Pilgrimage church of Wies and Neuschwanstein castle
The first highlight of the day is a visit to the Pilgrimage church of Wies in Steingaden – one of the most famous rococo churches in the world and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, you continue to Neuschwanstein Castle. The castle was built by Ludwig II from 1869-1886 "in the style of the old German knight's castles". Neuschwanstein can be reached on a comfortable footpath in approx. 30 minutes (ascent by carriage or small bus possible for a surcharge).
Day 4: Departure
Before you start your journey home, we recommend a side trip to Oberammergau.
