Day 1: Arrival in Rome
Day 2: Welcome to Rome
The irresistible magic of the Eternal City develops the best in the early morning. Dive with us in this incomparable atmosphere in which Rome belongs to the Romans before the streets and alleys fill with tourists. Enjoy your first cappuccino in a bar and mix yourself with the population during lunch in a tavola calda before you eat ice cream in Rome’s most famous ice cream parlor Giolitti. In the evening visit the furtive living room of Rome – the Piazza Navona.
Day 3: Roman country life
Do you know where the name “catacomb” comes from? In front of the city gates it goes down to the underworld! You will see pagan mausoleums, Christian tombs and visit the tomb of Ceclila Metella. A small picnic near the Via Appia catches your interest to learn more about the country life. You will drive to the mountains and look down on the city – eat a little bit of Porchetta and drink a glass of wine.
Day 4: Augustus the “emperor of peace”
Where has Caesar been murdered? Just look it up. Where is the sundial of Augustus located? His importance and his political program can be found on the relief of his mausoleum. In the afternoon everybody can visit his favourite place in Rom – and in the evening you can go out for a typical Roman dinner.
Day 5: Centre of power
In the morning we will visit the Vatican. We will go past the Swiss Guards straight into the last piece of the Holy Roman Empire of German Nation. From there the St. Peter’s basilica already looks different. And the circus of Nero? Where is the tomb of Peter? A day full of secrets, which will reveal to you what others won’t see.
Day 6: Homeward journey
