Cycling Tour Tuscany - Florence

Tour Suggestion

Day 1: Arrival

Arrival by plane in Italy. Meet your tour guide at the airport. Transfer to Montecatini Terme. As a prelude you can take a short tour of the city. Afterwards check in to your hotel for the following 5 nights.

Day 2: Vinci and Leonardo (approx. 40 - 75 km / 25 – 47 miles - medium difficulty)

Today you start from Montecatini and drive through the nature reserve Padule di Fucecchio to Vinci, a picturesque town surrounded by olive groves and vineyards and the birthplace of the famous universal genius of the same name. Now you decide: Either you plan a longer stay in Vinci and are picked up by the bus or you cycle back to the hotel via Lamporecchio and Lanciano.

(Another approx. 35 km / 22 miles with an altitude difference of approx. 510 m / 0,32 miles).

For those interested, a visit to the Leonardiano Museum or a small wine tasting in an agriturismo in Vinci can also be recommended (extra charge).

Day 3: Florence (approx. 30 km / 19 miles - medium difficulty)

Today you will cycle from Signa through the hinterland to the capital of Tuscany - Florence, famous for its numerous art and architectural masterpieces of the Renaissance. After an impressive guided walking tour and some free time, you will then take the train back to Montecatini to your hotel.

Day 4: Lucca (approx. 45 km / 28 miles - medium difficulty)

From/to hotel. Today you will drive to Lucca with your guide. You will cycle through the medieval fortified village of Montecarlo di Lucca and continue on the Via Francigena. After short distance along the city walls you will cycle towards the city center where a guided tour of the city awaits you. Let yourself be enchanted by the charm of the "little Vatican". On the way back, stop at a winery for a tasting. You will return to the hotel by bus.

Day 5: Through Pisa and unknown landscapes (approx. 60 km / 37 miles)

Today you start your trip near Pisa in San Piero a Grado with the basilica of the same name in Romanesque style, whose construction was completed in the 11th century. After a short visit you will go to the center of Pisa, where you will of course have an interesting tour. Through undiscovered villages such as Ponteasserchio, Ripafratta, Badia di Contignano, S. Ginese, Badia Pozzeveri and Altopascio you will continue through the Tuscan countryside to a country estate where you will finish by tasting good Tuscan wine. Return by bus to the hotel, dinner.
