Day 1: Arrival
Dinner and overnight stay in Munich.
Day 2: Baroque in Upper Bavaria
During the morning you visit the jewel of baroque art in Upper Bavaria: the Pilgrimage Church of the Castigated Redeemer on the Meadow (Wieskirche) in Pfaffenwinkel. Enjoy the merging of the incomparable and unique architecture with the exquisite landscape. After a trip through the very varied alpine foreland you reach the Monastery of Wessobrunn. The Monastery became world famous for its unique school for stucco plasterers and the Wessobrunn prayer, the oldest Christian linguistic monument in the German language. In the afternoon you end the day with nourishment for spirit and body on the Holy Mount of Andechs Monastery. After a tour of the minster you will enjoy the beer brewed by the monks themselves and a hearty meal. Overnight stay in Munich.
Day 3: Munich – modern architecture
Today you experience the Bavarian Capital from a different angle. We start with a visit to impressive examples of modern sports arena culture such as the “Olympic District” with the Stadium and Olympic Tower and a tour of the already famous "Allianz Arena”. Then you enter the recently opened BMW World of high tech superlatives. During the afternoon you experience vistas of modern architecture and art in the collection of Art of the 20th and 21st centuries unique throughout the world in the “Pinakothek der Moderne” art gallery. Dinner and overnight stay in Munich.
Day 4: Baroque in Wuerzburg
In the late morning you reach the Franconian Residence City of Wuerzburg. The highlight of your tour is the Prince-Bishop’s residence, in which genius and opulence was demonstrated in unique manner under the master builder Balthasar Neumann. Dinner and overnight stay in the area of Wuerzburg.
Day 5: Weimar - Traces of a revolutionary generation of architects
1919 in Weimar with the foundation of the design school “Staatliches Bauhaus” a revolution in design was initiated and even today forms the basis of modern building. Today during your city tour you follow the traces of Bauhaus School buildings, some of which are acknowledged as part of the UNESCO world culture heritage. Dinner and overnight stay in the area of Weimar.
Day 6: Dessau – Woerlitz
Today you visit further important Bauhaus School buildings in Dessau. After that you drive to the Woerlitz realm of gardens, one of the most beautiful landscape parks in Europe. You tour the magnificent baroque park through a stylish gondola trip with coffee and cakes. Dinner and overnight stay in Berlin.
Day 7: Berlin - Between Bauhaus, concrete slab and postmodernism
On your last day you experience the contrasts of creative city building in the capital. These are based on the Bauhaus School but were realised in very different ways in east and west. You tour large residential areas such as the “Hansaviertel” and Marzahn, see examples of representative city building such as the “Zuckerbaeckerstil” (wedding cake style) in Frankfurter Allee or in the "Nikolaiviertel”. In the afternoon you visit the parliament buildings and “Potsdamer Platz”, examples of contemporary postmodern architecture. Dinner and overnight stay in Berlin.
