Insight into Munich's Technology & Architecture

Tour suggestion

Day 1: Arrival in Munich

After your arrival at Munich airport you will get to know the famous football stadium Allianz Arena, known for its extraordinary architecture. During a guided tour you will see a film presentation about the creation of the arena, the players' cabins, the players' tunnel, playing field, interior, press club, upper tier and take an exterior tour of the arena.

Continue to your hotel for check in. In the evening enjoy a welcome dinner at a Bavarian brewery. Overnight in Munich.

Day 2: Munich’s Architecture

In the morning, a guided tour will give you an overview of Munich's architectural contrasts. For example Parkstadt Schwabing with its Art Nouveau houses and, in contrast, the Olympic Stadium and new architecture, such as BMW World.

In the afternoon, take a look behind the scenes of BMW World. Learn about the special features of this building during an architectural tour or delve deeper into BMW's technology and design studio during the technical tour.

Dinner at a restaurant. Overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 3: Art Area & Technology

This morning is dedicated to the theme of art. Visit the area Kunstareal where you will find the Pinakotheken Museum and the Brandhorst Museum with your tour guide. Marvel at the impressive collection of 20th and 21st century artworks at the Brandhorst Museum, including works by well-known artists such as Andy Warhol and Alex Katz. Also, view paintings from the 14th - 18th centuries in one of the world's most important galleries, the Alte Pinakothek.

In the afternoon, visit the Deutsches Museum, one of the world's first and largest natural science and technology museums. Marvel at many original exhibits covering subject areas such as mining, nuclear physics or transportation. Dinner at a restaurant. Overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 4: The Walchensee Power Plant and free afternoon

Today you visit the Walchensee power plant. It is the largest high-pressure-storage power plant in Germany. Annually 8 turbines deliver about 320 million kilowatt hours of ecologically beneficial energy. Look at the turbine models, interactive touch-screen terminals and let them vividly explain technology- and energy production to you.

Afternoon for free in Munich. Alternatively we recommend a visit to the ESO Supernova Planetarium in Garching or a tour over the tent roof of the Olympic Stadium.

Overnight stay at your hotel.
