Munich - Royal Bavarian Heritage

Munich - Royal Bavarian Heritage

PROGRAM SUGGESTION:

Day 1: Welcome to Munich

Welcome to Munich! After arrival, discover the Bavarian capital during a guided city tour. From the impressive Königsplatz and the Olympic Park to the lively and trendy Schwabing district, you will experience the diverse sides of Munich. In the evening, kick off your Bavarian adventure with a traditional welcome dinner at a local brewery restaurant.

Day 2: Day excursion to Chiemsee

Today, enjoy a scenic excursion to beautiful Lake Chiemsee. A boat ride takes you to Herreninsel, where a buggy will bring you up to the magnificent Herrenchiemsee Palace, built by King Ludwig II as his Bavarian version of Versailles. After a guided visit, enjoy some free time for lunch at a traditional beer garden overlooking the lake. On the way back to Munich, stop at a local brewery and enjoy a tasting of regional beers.

Day 3: Traditional Munich

Start the day like a true Bavarian with a traditional Weißwurstfrühstück, including fresh white sausages, sweet mustard and pretzels. Afterwards, visit a traditional Trachten shop and learn more about the craftsmanship and history behind Bavaria’s iconic clothing. You will even have the opportunity to rent your own Dirndl or Tracht for the rest of the day. In the afternoon, discover the magnificent Nymphenburg Palace and continue along the trail of the Wittelsbach dynasty with a visit to the Munich Residence. The evening is free to explore Munich at your own pace.

Day 4: Excursion to Upper Bavaria

Experience the beauty and traditions of Upper Bavaria on a full-day excursion. Admire the fairytale-like Neuschwanstein Castle from the outside before visiting a traditional cheese factory and learning how regional cheese is produced. Continue to Ettal and picturesque Oberammergau, famous for its Passion Play and beautifully painted houses. The final highlight is Linderhof Palace, King Ludwig II’s elegant royal retreat surrounded by magnificent gardens. Return to Munich for a Bavarian farewell dinner.

Day 5: Farewell to Munich

After breakfast, it is time to say goodbye to Munich. Depart with unforgettable memories of Bavarian traditions, royal palaces, spectacular Alpine scenery and authentic local experiences.
