Tour Suggestion
Day 1: Arrival
Welcome to Germany. The preferred airports are Dresden, Berlin or Prague.
After arrival your tour guide will meet you at the airport.
Transfer to your hotel in the region of Dresden, time to settle in and relax.
In the evening you will enjoy a Welcome Dinner at your hotel.
Day 2: All about Wine
Start the day with a relaxing hike through the vineyards. Here you will meet a local wine expert who will talk about wine growing in Saxony and grape varieties. You will have wonderful views over the valley of the river Elbe and the mountains around Dresden.
Enjoy a rest during lunch at a beer garden.
During a guided visit of a wine growing estate you will learn about the process of producing the wine, tour the wine cellar and taste 3 different wines.
Afterwards, we transfer to a small wine village. Free time for individual shopping and sightseeing.
Today you will have dinner at a restaurant at the top of a hill with wonderful view over the region.
Overnight at your hotel in the region of Dresden.
Day 3: The Baroque city of Dresden
Today you will explore the capital of Saxony, Dresden, and its dazzling Baroque architecture. During a guided city tour you will see famous buildings like the “Zwinger”, the opera house “Semperoper”, Dresden Cathedral as well as the famous church Frauenkirche.
After some free time for lunch, you head on to the Neustadt quarter with secret laneways and the “Kunsthofpassage” - a complex of courtyards that are designed with different themes such as courtyard of mythical creatures or courtyard of elements. The rest of the day is spent at your leisure in Dresden for shopping and exploring.
End of the day is a dinner at a unique restaurant located on the top floor of a building resembling a mosque.
Transfer back to your hotel.
Day 4: Porcelain and cruising
Start your day with a boat tour on the river Elbe from Radebeul to Meissen (approx. 75 minutes) alongside vineyards and little villages.
Meissen is the home of Meissen porcelain, the Albrechtsburg castle, the Gothic Meissen Cathedral and the Meissen Frauenkirche.
After arrival, you will have some free time for lunch.
In the afternoon you will enjoy a short city tour of Meissen. Highlight is the visit of the imposing cathedral.
Afterwards you will get insights into the production of porcelain. The first European porcelain has been produced in the Meissen Porcelain Manufacturing since 1708. Today it is world famous with its crossed swords.
Transfer back to hotel, Dinner at your hotel.
Day 5: Saxon Switzerland
Today you will go on an excursion to the Saxon Switzerland – a national park around the Elbe valley south-east of Dresden. It is well known for its climbing peaks, hollows and fortress. First highlight is the world famous Bastei Bridge.
Enjoy lunch in the small city of Pirna and be sure not to miss the picturesque market square.
Afterwards continue to Pillnitz Castle – a restored Baroque palace and former summer residence of many kings of Saxony. Enjoy a visit of the park that surrounds the Castle buildings. You will see the Baroque flower garden whose centerpiece is a pond with a large fountain.
Dinner at a restaurant called “The balcony of Dresden”.
Transfer back to your hotel.
Day 6: Train and Fairytale
First highlight of the day is a ride with a historic steam railway from Radebeul to Moritzburg. Here in Moritzburg you will visit the romantic Moritzburg Castle, scene for fairytales and movies.
After lunch at a restaurant you will be taken to a horse carriage ride through the park of Moritzburg Castle with its idyllic ponds and little castles. You will see that the Castle is situated on an artificial island. In the surrounding forest there are alleys which were cut into the forest and designed for royals hunting with their hounds.
Transfer back to your hotel.
Farewell dinner at the hotel.
Day 7: Homewards Journey
