The Kocher-Jagst Cycle Route

The Kocher-Jagst Cycle Route

Tour Suggestion

Day 1: Arrival

by plane to Frankfurt, welcome by your tour escort at the airport and transfer to Aalen. Dinner and overnight stay in the Aalen region.

Day 2: Kocher-Jagst Cycle Route Tour 1 - Upper Kocher Valley (approx. 66 km / 41 miles)

From the origins of the Kocher from Aalen, the tour leads via Abtsgmuend and Gaildorf to the former Free Imperial City of Schwaebisch Hall. The route follows the course of the river and, with one exception, has only slight inclines.  Dinner and overnight stay in the Schwaebisch Hall region.

Day 3: Kocher-Jagst Cycle Route Tour 2 - Hohenloher Kochertal (approx. 44 km / 27.5 miles)

The tour follows the Kocher from Schwaebisch Hall via Kuenzelsau to Forchtenberg. The contrast between the wide farmland of Hohenlohe and the deeply cut, winding Kocher Valley is impressive.  Dinner and overnight stay in the Forchtenberg region.

Day 4: Kocher-Jagst Cycle Path Tour 3 - Heilbronner Land (approx. 38 km / 24 miles)

From Forchtenberg via Neuenstadt this stage leads to the mouth of the Kocher into the Neckar at Bad Friedrichshall. A detour to Bad Wimpfen or Heilbronn is an option. Dinner and overnight stay in the Bad Friedrichshall region.

Day 5: Kocher-Jagst Cycle Route Tour 4 - Knightly Jagst Valley (approx. 66 km / 41 miles)

From Bad Friedrichshall the tour leads in the Jagst valley via Moeckmuehl, Jagsthausen and the monastery Schoental to Doerzbach. Wonderful views open up behind the various bends in the river.  Dinner and overnight stay in the Doerzbach region.

Day 6: Kocher-Jagst Cycle Route Tour 5 - Hohenloher Jagsttal (approx. 56 km / 35 miles)

From Doerzbach this tour leads past the Hohenlohe residence towns of Langenburg and Kirchberg to Crailsheim.  Dinner and overnight stay in the Crailsheim region.

Day 7: Kocher-Jagst Cycle Route Tour 6 - Ostalb (approx. 67 km / 42 miles)

The last tour of the Kocher-Jagst Cycle Path leads from Crailsheim via Ellwangen back. The valley widens to the gentler shapes of the Keuperbergland. Dinner and overnight stay in the Aalen region or transfer to Frankfurt.

Day 8: Journey home or extension

Flight home from Frankfurt or extension to explore Frankfurt.
