Tour suggestion

Day 1: Arrival Munich

The journey begins with a sporting highlight - paying a visit to the home stadium of the internationally well-known soccer club Bayern München which is an architectural masterpiece. Can you feel the football passion in the stadium´s atmosphere? You will definitely get familiar with the Allianz-Arena as you walk around it. Afterwards, you will be provided with interesting facts about the origin and construction of the stadium in a film projection. Dinner and overnight stay in Munich area.

Day 2: The Lake Constance (Bodensee) area and its playful inventions

Was the invention of the Zeppelin actually a playful event? That, of course, inventor Graf von Zeppelin cannot tell us anymore. What cannot be disputed is the fact that the Zeppelin celebrated its conception in the region of Lake Constance and influenced the development of aviation significantly. Do you want to be transported back to the years 1936 and '37 and to re-live that unique experience of a transatlantic crossing in the airship? Then come on board the reconstruction of the passenger areas of the LZ 129 Hindenburg and your museum visit will become an incomparable occurrence. Afterwards, you will continue your journey to Ravensburg, the city of games. All over the world, Ravensburg is renowned for games, puzzles and children's books. Whether one refers to the game devices in the city centre or the Ravensburg Toyland just outside the city, it does not really matter; since they emphasize "play" in capital letters. With a city-play spectacle, your guided city tour suddenly becomes a true experience. Become acquainted with baroque Ravensburg, with its imposing tower woman Regina Nabholzin, or allow the child in you to discover the city in a city rally. You will have dinner and an overnight stay in the Lake Constance area.

Day 3: Swabian railways & automobiles

Also in this high-tech age, both young and old continue to enjoy with increasing popularity the conventional model railway sets. The largest model railway layout manufacturer is Märklin in Göppingen, where it all began. Here, you can actually see and be thrilled by the “live” experience of the invaluable treasures from the company's almost 150-year-old history. Extending far beyond the boundaries, the brands of Mercedes and Porsche are well known. During the last decades, the first-mentioned brand has also made its indelible mark on the international motor sport. In the Mercedes Benz museum, you can admire the first Mercedes and the famous "Silver Arrows" of Formula One parked next to the early constructions by Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler. Dinner and overnight stay in Stuttgart area.

Day 4: The oldest toy companion of all children: the teddy bear

The miniature copy of a bear made out of plush fabric can look back on a long history. The children's rooms of the world cannot be imagined without them anymore. The teddy bears of the company Steiff, with the trademark "button in the ear", rose to special fame. Today, there is a worldwide collectors' community, but did you know that the first examples of these little fabric animals, which were sent to the USA, were not received favourably initially and only managed to find a place in the shops only after many failed attempts? In the Steiff Museum, you come to know the entire story of the teddy legend. Do look into the needlework parlour of Margarethe Steiff and experience "live" how, in the daily manufacture, new snugly pets see the light of the world. Afterwards you continue your journey towards Nuremberg, the largest city in the Franconia region. In the toy museum, expect to find numerous collections of game devices of all sorts: wooden toys, doll kitchens, historical tin figures and the internationally famous E.P. Lehmann toys made out of sheet metal. Allow the evening to slowly draw to a close, while you enjoy Franconian sausages with sauerkraut in a cosy Nuremberg Bratwürsthäusle (grilled sausage house). Overnight stay in Nuremberg area.

Day 5: Reading pleasure thanks to Gutenberg

Not only games and toys succeed in leading people into the world of fantasy.  Also thanks to books, regardless of whether they are biographies, adventure novels or political thrillers, we submerge ourselves into worlds and ways of life, which were previously totally unknown. To bring this part of the journey to a conclusion, travel to Mainz, the city of Gutenberg. Because of his pioneering invention of the printing press that paved the way to books as we know them today, we honour him as the "man of the millennium". In the Gutenberg Museum, you can admire the famous Gutenberg Bible of which, today, only 49 copies exist worldwide. In the afternoon, you travel to Frankfurt am Main. Make good use of the opportunity to have a look behind the scenes of the largest airport of Germany. From the runways, you can observe the large sky birds from a close range and can even visit the airport's fire brigade. You have your dinner and overnight in Frankfurt area.
