Enjoy with us a tour to the most popular sports in Germany: soccer. We present you a tour which is a combination of soccer, lifestyle and culinary highlights in the Ruhr region. For active travelers, this tour can also be booked as a bike tour.
Day 1: Arrival in Dusseldorf and continue to Aachen
Welcome to Germany. The game starts with a trip to the black and yellow football fans "living room": The Tivoli of Alemannia Aachen. Guided visit of the stadium. Overnight in the region of Aachen.
Day 2: Enjoy the Rhein
On your way to Cologne you will see the home of our two great Schumachers: the best goalkeeper of the 80s, Toni Schumacher, as well as the 7-time Formula 1 world champion, Michael Schumacher. Experience the speed at his karting track. Continue to Cologne and deep into the history of sports from the ancient world to the present at the German Sports and Olympic Museum. Overnight in Cologne.
Day 3: Koelsch and soccer fun
During your city tour, the Cologne Cathedral is a must. Next to celebrities like John F. Kennedy, the "Kaiser" Franz Beckenbauer and the Geissbock looked down from there. The focus is on a visit to 1. FC Koeln’s Rhein-Energie-Stadium, which was awarded the bronze medal for the best sports facilities in the world. After a delicious lunch at a traditional brewery, you continue your tour to another icon of German football history: Bayer 04 Leverkusen. You will visit its sponsor Bayer and learn not just about the history of the company, but also about its activities in the areas of culture, sustainability, sports and art. Overnight in the region of Cologne.
Day 4: Soccer and industry giants
First stop today is at Dyck Castle, a centre for Garden Art and Landscape Design. Here you will learn about modern landscape architecture and see examples of home gardens up to an adventure play area. Afterwards you’ll travel to Essen, where you will see the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Zollverein. The black gold of the Ruhr Area was mined here for more than 100 years. Football was the bright spot for the men working in mine. Overnight in the region of Essen / Bochum.
Day 5: Turf in a 5-star temple
In Gelsenkirchen football is more than just sport: "Auf Schalke" represents the vitality of whole generations of friends. There is a reason why there is a chapel in the Veltins-Arena for the "inner fight". During a stadium tour, you will marvel at the retractable turf, the convertible roof and you’ll explore the club’s holiest history at the Schalke Museum. Next station is the German Mining Museum in Bochum, where the unique symbiosis of soccer and mining is particularly vividly presented. Overnight in the region of Essen / Bochum.
Day 6: Goal! In Dortmund
Tour of the LWL Industrial Museum Zollern Dortmund - one of the most extraordinary testimonies of Germany’s industrial past. Before returning home, you’ll see the home of BVB fans at Signal Iduna Park. Here you can take part in a guided visit or spend some hours in Dortmund city center. Overnight in the region of Essen / Bochum.
Day 7: Depart home from Dusseldorf or extend your stay
